Back to school means more people getting ready in the morning which can take a toll on your plumbing. Here are a few tips to help ensure everything in your household stays working as it should with all of the increased activity.
1. Clean Your Disposal
With everyone getting ready to leave the house in the morning, your garbage disposal is probably getting a lot more traffic from hastily discarded breakfast items. It’s a good idea to clean it regularly to prevent buildup which could cause blockages down the line. Or upgrade to a newer more efficient model like the Insinkerator Evolution Compact Garbage Disposal,
2. Be Smart with Shower times
If hot water is an issue due to consecutive shower sessions, create a schedule which allows for at least 15 minutes between shower use to allow the water heater to catch up. Or consider an upgrade to a more efficient water heater.
3. Run the Fan
With increased use of the shower, it’s a good idea to keep the fan running whenever the bathroom is in use. This will prevent moisture from accumulating which could lead to mold or mildew. If your fan is not working, consider having it repaired or replaced.
4. Clean your Washer and Dryer
School time typically results in more laundry; especially if sports are on the agenda. Your laundry equipment should be cleaned regularly to keep it in top working order so if it’s been a while since you cleaned or replaced the hose on your washer and the lint drawer in your dryer, now is the time to do so!
